FRANTZ WOKASCH OF EVERGREEN IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Took Out Homestead in County in 1898–Dies at Age of 90

Frantz S. Wokasch, 90-year-old pioneer of Evergreen township, died Sunday here at St. Mary’s hospital and services were conducted yesterday from the Evergreen Lutheran church.

Among the oldest living residents of Evergreen, Mr. Wokasch came to that community and took out a homestead in 1898. He made his home there ever since.

On July 22 he was take to St. Mary’s hospital. In late years, despite his advance age, he had been in good health.

Rev. Martin Beck officiated at the rites yesterday and interment was made in the Evergreen Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Wokasch, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthahas Wokasch, was born in Bazierk, Koenigseck, Bohemia, on September 25, 1885 [ed: incorrect?]. He came to America when he was 26 years old and immediately joined his two brothers at New Ulm, Minnesota.

In 1898 he came to Becker county and the folowing [sic] year he married Louisa Fenske.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Anthony A. Berger, Frazee; Alvina, Frazee; Jacob, Frazee; Mrs. Alvin Mathews, Bethany, Mo.; Amelia, Rochester; Michael, Frazee. There are six grandchildren.
